Missionaries in Africa were underestimating the strong beliefs of the Ibo's tradition.
After many years of working in Africa, the Ibo people began to rapidly accept Christianity.
They opened up churches serving in northern cities and larger towns.
Among Igboland, the main greatest activity would be the Roman Catholic Church.
Christians offered freedom from evil spirits and oppression.
Since the Igbo people's god was dead to them, they thought that the Christian God was very powerful.
The colonials wanted the children to have an education, but the chiefs refused from fright of harsh enslavement.
The kids stricken of poverty were given to the colonials for education, because they thought that they were worthless.
Christianity became powerful and was able to abolish slave trade and slavery, human sacrifices and twin killing.
They also introduced education, built hospitals, charity homes, improved welfare, and increased human knowledge.
